Veil opens with an old image: a massive ship steered by one small rudder, in one captain’s hands. The tongue works the same way — small, but capable of setting the whole direction, or setting the whole thing on fire. Broc, predictably, recognizes himself in every example.
The conversation moves through a lie that grows heavier with every person who repeats it, and a kind word that works the same way in reverse. It lands on the golden rule, stated the way the oldest wisdom traditions actually phrase it — not „do good,” but „don’t do harm.” Marcus Aurelius shows up too, agreeing with a philosophy he never read.
By the end, the episode turns toward something harder: suffering that isn’t manufactured, and the total honesty it takes to let it teach you something. Broc, against his own instincts, promises to try.
